Mike Rice is the host of the weekly "Rockies Dugout" show and has also filled in calling play-by-play for Rockies games.
A native of San Rafael, California in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rice came to 850 KOA and the Rockies Radio Network in 2002.
In addition to his Rockies-related duties, Rice is the Assistant Sports Director for Rockies flagship station 850 KOA. He serves as the studio host for the Denver Broncos Radio Network and hosts the post-game Broncos talk show "The Gridiron Grill." He also calls the play-by-play for the University of Colorado women’s basketball games.
Previously, Rice spent 11 years at KFKA Radio in Greeley, Colorado and called the play-by-play for University of Northern Colorado athletics. He was at the mic when the Bears won national championships in football in 1996 and 1997.
2011 marks Rice’s 20th anniversary covering sports in the state of Colorado. He is a lifelong baseball fan who grew up rooting for the Giants but has long since switched his allegiance to the Rockies. Covering the 2007 World Series is among his fondest broadcasting memories.
Rice enjoys exploring Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West and always has his camera at the ready. He, his wife Anne, and son EJ reside in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
